چکیده

As circuits are made smaller, certain new physical phenomena will appear. When the capacitance of components becomes so small that adding a single electron to that component causes the voltage to jump significantly, then singleelectron effects will have to be included in the device models. This can have important consequences for the conductance through the device and the noise that is observed. Transistors based on single-electron effects have been made using metal tunnel junctions, silicon technology and conducting polymers. Here the status of single-electronic circuits made from metal tunnel junctions and carbon nanotubes is discussed.

Effects of Structure and Partially Localization of the π Electron Clouds of Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes on the Cation-π Interactions

A C102H30 graphene sheet has been rolled up to construct Single-Walled Carbon NanoTube Fragments (SWCNTFs) as parts of armchair carbon nanotubes by computational quantum chemistry methods. Non-covalent cation-π interactions of the Na+ cation on the central rings of SWCNTFs have investigated. The binding energies of the Na+-SWCNTF complexes versus ...

Single walled carbon nanotube growth and chirality dependence on catalyst composition.

Vertical arrays of single walled carbon nanotubes (VA-SWNTs) were grown using bi-metallic nanoparticle pro-catalysts. Iron oxide particles were doped with varying quantities of first row transition metals (Mn, Co, Ni, and Cu) for a comparative study of the growth of nanotubes. VA-CNT samples were verified using scanning electron microscopy, and characterized using resonance Raman spectroscopy. ...

Finite Element Modeling of the Vibrational Behavior of Single-Walled Silicon Carbide Nanotube/Polymer Nanocomposites

The multi-scale finite element method is used to study the vibrational characteristics of polymer matrix reinforced by single-walled silicon carbide nanotubes. For this purpose, the nanoscale finite element method is employed to simulate the nanotubes at the nanoscale. While, the polymer is considered as a continuum at the larger scale. The polymer nanotube interphase is simulated by spring ele...

Doping of single-walled carbon nanotubes controlled via chemical transformation of encapsulated nickelocene.

Controlled doping of carbon nanotubes is elemental for their electronic applications. Here we report an approach to tune the polarity and degree of doping of single-walled carbon nanotubes via filling with nickelocene followed by encapsulated reactions. Using Raman, photoemission spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy, we show that nickelocene molecules transform into nickel carbides...
